The resulting brilliant, pre-focused, tactical-level beam offers more than six times the light of a large two D-cell flashlight--and roughly twice that with the lamp attached--making it bright enough to temporarily blind and disorient an intruder by impairing his night-adapted vision. The M3 CombatLight also offers a patented, ergonomic rubber grip ring that lets you operate the light with a handgun using the SureFire technique. And users will love the unique switching system, which was originally developed for law enforcement. Simply twist it for constant on or depress the tailcap button to momentarily illuminate the light or use it as an emergency signal.

The M3 CombatLight is built to last, with a rugged, aerospace-grade aluminum body that's Mil-Spec Type III hard anodized in olive drab. The finish is so tough that the knurled handle can be used to saw through the aluminum of lesser flashlights. Finally, the shock-isolated bezel/lamp assembly is built to withstand the repeated recoil of a large caliber weapon. Other features include a tempered Pyrex window; an O-ring-sealed, waterproof body; and a switch lockout that prevents accidental activation during transport or storage. The SureFire story begins in 1969, when Dr. John Matthews--an engineer with a Ph.D. from Cal Tech--founded the Newport Corporation in order to harness the power of the laser for industrial applications. Over time, Matthews turned his inventive mind toward shooting (his hobby and passion), hoping to adapt lasers as firearm sights.
